What is chutney?
Sort of a preserve, sort of a relish, chutney is an Indian (condiment) used as an addition to a variety of dishes. Typically spicy, chutney is made from a combination of spices mixed into a paste-like combination that’s out of this world. Add chutney to yogurt, dips, meat dishes, vegetables, cheese, naan, or basmati rice for a complete meal.

Is chutney spicy?
Chutney is typically spicy. Bombay Chutney Co.’s chutneys have an extra kick to add fire to any feast.

What is Kofta?
Kofta is a classic Indian delicacy that has been served in South East Asian homes for centuries. It’s a healthy alternative to traditional meatballs, usually made from minced meat (beef, chicken, lamb, or pork) and mixed with spices and/or onions. This one is vegetarian made with zucchini.

What is Saag?
Saag is a spinach-based dish made from a mix of specialty spices. It has the consistency of a thick, rich sauce and is filled with antioxidants. Saag makes a wonderful base for other meat, tofu, or Indian paneer dishes.

What is Rajma?
Rajma is the Indian version of a bean-based chili. With a heavier consistency, reminiscent of gravy, Rajma is made from a combination of red kidney beans, tomatoes, and spices.

What are Indian Samosas?
Traditionally fried or baked, Indian Samosas are Indian pastries filled with savory fillings like potatoes, onions, peas, meat, or lentils. Often accompanied by chutney, Indian samosas can be enjoyed as a snack or a full entree.

What is Daal Tadka?
The literal translation of Dal Tadka is Dal=lentil and tadka=tempering. Tadka or chaunk (in hindi) is a term we often use in Indian cooking for the process of adding seasoning to a dish. It mostly involves adding spices like cumin seeds, mustard seeds, garlic, chilies, curry leaves etc. to hot oil or ghee.

What is Chana Masala?
Chana Masala is a chickpea-based Indian dish is made with green chilies, onions, garlic, ( no garlic) fresh cilantro, tomatoes, and a blend of Bombay Chutney Co.’s specialty spices. Because of how they’re prepared, the chickpeas in chana masala are about twice the size and have double the firmness of normal chickpeas.

Indian roti rolls are flat whole wheat breads used as wraps for seasonal cooked vegetables.

Ayurvedic spices are used to tame inflammation and heal the body’s internal systems.

Are all of your products vegan?
No the tikka masala sauce and spinach masala are not vegan they have heavy cream as an ingredient.

All of our chutneys are 100% vegan.

Which products are gluten-free?
All of our chutneys are gluten-free.

Do your products contain nuts?
The majority of Bombay Chutney Co.'s products do not contain nuts. They may, however, be manufactured in facilities that also contain nuts.

Are your products dairy free? Not the tikka masala or spinach masala sauce
No the tikka masala sauce and spinach masala are not because they have heavy cream as an ingredient

Are your products kosher?
Unfortunately our products are not currently certified kosher.

Do your products contain allergens?
None of Bombay Chutney Co.’s products contain allergens of any kind.

HANDLING/STORAGE

Does chutney need to be refrigerated?
Chutney needs to be refrigerated once opened.

How long can chutney last unopened?
Once opened and placed in the refrigerator, our chutneys stay fresh for two weeks.

Do your simmering sauces need to be refrigerated?
Simmer sauces must be refrigerated once opened. They can last for up to nine months if unopened outside the refrigerator, but for up to two weeks if opened and in the refrigerator.

How much does shipping cost?
How much does shipping cost? Shipping for Bombay Chutney Co.’s products cost a flat rate of $7.00 plus a handling fee of $2.00 per order for New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. Shipping to states outside of NJ, NY, and CT costs a flat rate of $13.00 plus a handling fee of $2.00 per order.

Do you ship all of Bombay Chutney Co. products?
We currently ship everything except Gourmet Frozen products. These can be found at local farmer’s markets.
